Some of the more specific ways your donations go to help Safe Acres Sanctuary are:
- Food & Supplements: Horses gotta eat! And, some of our equine have medical nutritional needs that require specialized feed.
- Farriers: Our Equine have their feet trimmed regularly to help keep them healthy.
- Vet Bills: When working with unwanted, unkempt, and/or older Equine, having extra funds to call the vet whenever necessary is such an important part of what we do.
- Specialized training: Special, kind training to support horses who are young and have been traumatized by abuse or neglect.
- Owner surrender horses: Oftentimes horses outlive their owners - or loving owners fall onto hard times and the horses lose their homes, your donations help us to provide a soft place to land for these horses, who are almost always older than 20, with health issues and cannot be ridden. These unfortunate souls are generally sent to auction and then, due to no fault of their own, to slaughter in horrific mexican or canadian slaughterhouses. You donation helps us to prevent their entrance into the cruelty of the slaughter pipeline!
- Wild orphaned foals: Orphans are created yearly on the range and they need qualified gentlers and handlers to support them through domestication and the rehoming process of living life as a domestic riding partner. Safe Acres provides healthcare, gentling and training of these young horses.
